SO commuters entering and leaving York on the A19 will have to put up with additional delays until early May, due to the carriageway improvements at Crockey Hill.

I predict that this work will bring little or no improvement to the area. Creating an extra lane over a few hundred metres in only one direction is a waste of money.

The size of the Selby area commute to York increases every year and shortly there will be added to this 655 new homes at Germany Beck.

You only have to look at the Hopwood roundabout/A64 junction at busy periods to see that this type of improvement is a waste of public money.

A complete rethink on accessing York from this direction is required or further delays, lost working hours and frustration will be the norm for years to come.
