YORK’S tourism sector is to be shone under a new light as the city’s unknown secrets are shared in a bid to promote its uniqueness on a global scale.
Businesses in the city are being urged to come forward and share their stories about what makes them different as part of new campaign by Visit York.
Announced at yesterday’s Visit York Conference, the #onlyinyork campaign will be launched on March 17 to coincide with English Tourism Week.
The idea is to promote what makes York unique in a bid to stand it apart from other cities when people are choosing where to visit.
Sally Greenaway, head of Visit York, said: “The campaign is all about finding out the unique things about every single tourism organisation in the city. It’s about finding those little stories that even we never knew, never mind potential visitors.
“There’s a lot going on that we don’t know about, and that’s why we really want everyone to get involved. We’ve already had some fantastic stories come in.”
