A LOCAL Plan for York will move a step closer next week as a ‘publication draft’ is considered by senior councillors.

The plan, which will determine where new homes and jobs are created over the next 15 years and beyond, follows extensive studies and consultation with residents, landowners, developers and statutory consultees such as government agencies.

The draft will be considered at the council’s Local Plan Working Group next Tuesday and the executive next Thursday, and the final publication draft will go out to public consultation in February/March before being submitted to the secretary of state for independent examination.

Council leader David Carr said the draft was "another important milestone in an exceptionally important plan for York", while interim deputy leader Andrew Waller said everyone in York would have their final say.
