A YOUNGSTER from York got creative to design the logo for a new local community group.

Lottie Greenbrown, seven, of Albemarle Road, South Bank, entered a competition to create the logo for the newly-formed Micklegate Ward Neighbourhood Forum.

The York Steiner School pupil’s flower and butterfly design was selected as the winner. Lottie’s artwork features the colours of her favourite flowers from the family’s plot at Scarcroft Allotments, close to the Knavesmire.

Hussein Syed, chairman of the forum, said: “We loved the fact that Lottie’s design was both powerful and colourful, but also reflected our environmental aspirations.”

He added: “Our aim is to give people living and working in the ward a genuine opportunity to influence the decisions that affect our lives and to be a real force for change and improvement in the neighbourhood.”

The group will be preparing the Neighbourhood Plan for the Micklegate Ward.

Its first drop-in event is on Saturday at Southlands Methodist Church, off Bishopthorpe Road, from 10am to 2pm.
