YORK will soon be on the silver screen in a debut feature film from a couple of Yorkshire lads who have never written, produced or directed a full-length feature before.

Scott and Sid is one of several films and television shows recently shot in the county and York, including the current BBC drama Girlfriends by Kay Mellor.

Locations in Scott and Sid include York’s famous walls and city centre streets, cafes and restaurants, including the grandeur of Ask in the Assembly Rooms, Biltmore, and Grey’s Court Hotel, Aviva and Huntington School.

Scott Elliott and Sid Sadowskyj’s true story of triumph against adversity is told in this debut heading to a screen near you in March.

The best friends raised £1 million to fund their dream and refused to succumb to “an ordinary path through life”.

Bradford-born Scott and Sid say their film is about friendship and coming-of-age, and offers an insight into their dreamchaser philosophy and inspires their audience to be more than normal. Chasing their dreams comes at a cost, but one meeting could change their lives.

Sid said: “York was the perfect filming location - it had everything we could want! York council were fantastic and so were the local residents. The film will be released at a national and international level in countries like the USA and China which will have a great impact on tourism in York. With Yorkshire being named as the fastest growing region for TV and film, it’s great that our story can be brought to life with the help of the Yorkshire landscape,” he added.

Co-creator Scott Elliott said: “Having wanted to make a film since we were teenagers, the fact that we are on the brink of releasing a story based on our lives is incredible. To film in the region we grew up in was an honour.”

The pair also made use of scenery around Leeds, and Bradford. The trailer is now released.
