TECHIES from across the region are being invited to get together at an event in York next week to network with like-minded people.

Organised by Science City York, and the University of York, Tech York will take place next Thursday, from 5.30pm to 8pm.

Initially started to bring together York-based and regional tech businesses, organisers say Tech York has gone from strength to strength, providing engaging content for an audience of business people and professionals.

The event will take place in Carluccio’s in St Helen’s Square.

Italian food will be provided to accompany presentations from York-based software developers, ‘Isotoma’, labour mapping service, ‘Geektalent’ and ‘Skillsforge’, a University of York start-up which supports postgraduate research programmes.

Gary Fawcett from Skillsforge said: "SkillsForge is a rapidly growing tech company within York so Tech York is an ideal platform for us to present to. With a common interest in developing York's tech footprint, it is our opportunity to present to like-minded people and provide an invaluable local network to help us with the challenges and opportunities for the future."

Heather Niven, head of Science City York said: “Tech York is a really popular event, bringing new businesses together to discuss, collaborate and grow the York digital community, both here and further afield.”

Tickets cost £5 and are available at www.eventbrite.co.uk
