AMERICAN comedian, actress, campaigner and writer Ruby Wax follows up last year's sold-out 81-date tour with more shows this spring, taking her Frazzled show to the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds, on April 8.

Her 2017 engagements in Britain and Ireland took in residencies at the Leicester Square Theatre, London, and Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as theatres from Galway to Northampton.

In April, she returns to the stage with Frazzled, a one-woman show that explores a scientific solution to modern problems, namely mindfulness. Based on Wax's book A Mindfulness Guide For The Frazzled, it provides the ultimate guide to saner living as she gives a tour of the mind: how to use it, not lose it.

Wax, by the way, has a masters degree both in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy from Oxford University and psychotherapy from Regent’s College, London. She was awarded an OBE for her services to mental health in 2015 and has been appointed visiting professor in mental health nursing at the University of Surrey and president of the relationship support charity Relate.

Her new book, How To Be Human: The Manual, written with the help of a monk and a neuroscientist, will be published in hardback by Penguin Life on January 25.

Tickets for Wax's 7.30pm Playhouse show in the Quarry Theatre are on sale on 0113 213 7700 or at wyp.org.uk.
