A MOTORIST was arrested for drug driving on the outskirts of York after allegedly testing positive for cocaine at the roadside.

North Yorkshire Police received a call from a concerned member of the public about a motorist's manner of driving yesterday evening.

A car was seen to be swerving all over the road, slowing down and speeding up for no apparent reason, a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Group said.

The vehicle was stopped on the A64 junction with the A19.

The driver, a 42-year-old man, tested positive for cocaine at the roadside and was arrested, the spokesman added.

A blood sample has been obtained, and the man has been released pending the results of the test.

North Yorkshire Police are urging people to contact them if they see bad driving.
