POOLS of blood were left in the street after a man was attacked in York city centre.
North Yorkshire Police were called to Tanner Row at about 2.25am on Friday to reports that a man had been assaulted and had sustained facial injuries.
One local resident, who asked not to be named, said police were at the scene until after 3am.
He said: "I heard a bit of banging last night and I usually ignore it as we live near the club.
"This morning there were pools of blood in Tanner Row. It's like somebody's had their throat cut, and it's still there now."
The victim, a man in his twenties, was taken to hospital for treatment to cuts and a suspected broken nose.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and wounding, and is currently in police custody.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the attack is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for York Investigation Hub.
Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting reference 12180002408.
