A PUBLIC meeting at 6pm this evening at the Askham Bryan College conference centre will give residents in three villages the opportunity to quiz Superfast West Yorkshire on the delay to superfast broadband.

Residents of Askham Bryan, Askham Richard and Acaster Malbis were told at a public meeting in May that they would have access to superfast speeds by December 31 - last Sunday.

Superfast West Yorkshire contracted BT OpenReach to install two access points in the village.

The work is being funded by public funds from central government and the EU through locally devolved funds as part of the national broadband access initiative. The money has already been allocated and the contract for the new access points signed.

John Bullivent, contract manager of Superfast West Yorkshire will attend the meeting this evening, with York Outer MP Julian Sturdy and York councillors Chris Steward and John Galvin. BT OpenReach are not attending.
