A VEHICLE which was hanging precariously over a cliff edge footpath at Whitby was winched to safety yesterday by firefighters, said North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.
Another North Yorkshire crew put out a van fire in Outgang Road, Malton.
Meanwhile, Humberside Fire & Rescue Service said that two smoke alarms in an East Yorkshire home failed to activate when a stack of logs was involved in a fire in the living room.
A spokesman said firefighters were called to the property in Hawthorne Drive, Holme Upon Spalding Moor, in the early hours of yesterday.
He said a fan was used to ventilate the smoke-logged property, and batteries in the smoke alarm were replaced by the crews.
