TRIBUTE act Wayne Dilks takes a three-decade musical journey through The George Michael Legacy in his Faith show at York Barbican on January 12.

Dilks will be joined by his seven-piece band and backing singers to present a 7.30pm performance based on the late Wham! star's George Michael 25 tour show that marked his 25th anniversary in pop.

The tribute show incorporates video footage from George Michael's 25 tour, displayed on Dilks's "unique video wall". "This is a first for any UK theatre show," he says.

Next Friday's concert celebrates a career that took in 11 British number one singles, eight British number one albums and six American chart-topping singles as Michael notched up more than 100 million record sales.

Dilks has been performing those songs for more than 16 years, appearing on ITV’s Stars In Their Eyes in 2002 and in the doppelganger talent show's 2004's tour and latterly taking his tribute concerts to the United States and Russia. In December 2014, he marked the 30th anniversary of Wham!'s Last Christmas by performing the festive favourite in Saas Fe, Switzerland: the ski-resort location for Wham's snow-dusted 1984 video.

Faith: The George Michael Legacy will take in such hits as Club Tropicana, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, I’m Your Man, Faith, Father Figure, Fast Love, Amazing and Outside, along with the ballads Careless Whisper, A Different Corner and Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.

Tickets are on sale on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office.
