STORM Eleanor caused problems across the region overnight, with many properties left without power and trees blown down by strong winds.

Powerful gusts brought down a tree in York's Lower Priory Street near the bar walls, close to Victoria Bar.

A tree was felled in Belvedere Road, Scarborough, which partially blocked the road.

Hackness Road in Scarborough was also partially blocked by a fallen tree.

More than 300 properties had no power in North Yorkshire this morning following the storm.

There are 110 premises still without power in the YO10 area near Hull Road.

Power is expected to be restored by 4.30pm.

Northern Powergrid has had to restore power to 60 properties in the Brayton and Selby area, 50 properties in the Church Fenton area, 20 properties in the Upper Helmsley area, near Stamford Bridge and 130 properties in Harrogate.

York's Bar Walls were closed for most of the morning due to the high winds.
