STORM Eleanor is set to bring gales to York and North Yorkshire tonight, which could cause power cuts and disruption to transport.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning to be prepared for very strong winds or gales, with south-westerly gusts of up to 47mph by 4am tomorrow in York.
It said public transport may be disrupted or cancelled and some bridges are likely to be closed.
"Power cuts and disruption to other services (mobile phones for example) may also occur, while injuries from flying debris are possible," it warned.
There will also be further heavy rain this evening, with a chance of hill snow and tomorrow will be windy, with sunny intervals and blustery showers.
Temperatures are set to fall towards the weekend, with rain or showers turning more wintry.
