A YOUNG woman who believed everyone deserves to have a present and feel loved at Christmas spent last night handing food and clothing to York’s homeless.

Natalie Butel, 22, from Selby, said she was helped by friends Lucy Taylor,23, and Emma Casson, 28, from York, as she gave out sausage rolls, mince pies, sleeping bags, sleeping mats and and big coats, along with treats such as dog biscuits for their pets.

“Everything we had was all donations, starting from our families to people we didn't know,” she said.

“We got a big donation from one of the York market stalls which contained Christmas jumpers, hats, gloves and scarves.

"I can't thank everyone enough for all the donations we received.

“At this time of year, everyone deserves to have a Christmas present and feel loved, and I can truly say that is what they received last night.

“I am the one who came up with this idea. I've been wanting to do it for years. I started to plan in November.”
