SPECIAL services will take place at York Minster this weekend to mark the final days of Advent.
On Friday, December 22, the service of Nine Lessons and Carols starts at 7pm, including nine special readings, carols sung by the York Minster Choir and hymns for everyone to join in.
On Christmas Eve, the traditional Crib Service starts at noon, and at 4pm another service of Nine Lessons and Carols will begin. At 11.30pm, the First Eucharist of Christmas and traditional Midnight Mass with music from the St William’s Singers and York Young Soloists will be taken by Preacher Canon Chancellor Chris Collingwood.
On Christmas Day, Holy Communion is at 8am, Sung Eucharist of Christmas Day is at 10am led by The Archbishop of York, at 11.45am Christmas Day Choral Matins sung by the Minster Choir will be led by The Dean of York, and at 4pm the Christmas Day Choral Evensong will be performed by the Minster Choir.
