YORK City Football Club players and management took time out to spread festive cheer to children in hospital.
They visited the children’s ward at York Hospital on Thursday afternoon to give youngsters an extra special Christmas treat.
Manager Martin Gray and his squad handed out City ‘goody bags’ and spent time chatting with children, parents, and hospital staff.
Striker Jon Parkin, who was among the City party, said: “Hopefully, the kids have enjoyed seeing us.
“It is just something that we can give back. If we can put a little smile on their faces when they are having a bit of a tough time, that’s really good.”
The annual visit was organised by the club’s foundation with support from Benenden, Just Sport and Sarah Stelling.
Nicola Lockwood, matron for the children’s ward, said: “It always creates a lot of excitement when the team pay a visit, especially for the football fans among our patients.”
