A MAN suffered a broken nose and concussion in an “unprovoked” attack after a night out in York.

Kieran Skelton, 22, of Acomb, woke up in a pool of his own blood following the attack close to the taxi rank in Duncombe Place near York Minster.

The incident, which was between 3am and 4am on Sunday, left him with memory loss and he is appealing for anyone who saw anything to come forward.

Kieran, who works as a care assistant, said it was a man who attacked him.

He was with a friend when it happened, and said she had her hair pulled by the same man.

“I can’t remember anything from the night, except for feeling something really hard hit me in the face,” he explained.

“I remember putting my hand in front of my face. When I moved my hand it was red. There was also blood on my shirt and a pool of blood on the floor.

“It was unprovoked. We were just waiting for a taxi.”

He added: “I was with my friend. She said she couldn’t remember what the man looked like. He pulled her hair as well. She just remembers him wearing a navy jacket. We didn’t get a look at his face.

“She couldn’t remember which way he ran off but he did run off.”

Kieran said he was helped by another man who walked him to the hospital and waited with him but does not know who he was.

Because of his memory loss, Kieran had to have a brain scan. The former All Saints School and Askham Bryan College student is now recovering at home.

He said: “I am still getting nose bleeds. I’ve had a headache since I came home from hospital.”

He has shared his experience on social media because “I’d really like to find out who did it and why.”

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We received a report at 1.47pm on Monday (December 11) that a man has been attacked whilst waiting for a taxi near to the Dean Court Hotel in York, causing facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”
