VIKINGS led by the god Thor and King Canute will be invading the Yorkshire coast on New Year’s Eve for the Flamborough Fire Festival.
The village will be a blaze of celebration with a longship, fireballs, fire torches, fireworks and Viking war drums.
The festival welcomes everyone and encourages all children, friends and families to take part in the Longship Parade in theirViking costumes with prizes awarded to the best dressed.
This is only the third year the event has taken place and it has, to date, attracted over 10,000 visitors many of whom get into the spirit of the occasion and dress in their best Viking outfits!
Flamborough believes, in the days when it was a Viking stronghold, the local community took to the streets with fire, to cleanse the air of the old spirits and welcome in the new.
