A CHARITY football match held in memory of a local teenager who died in a caving incident during a school field trip has raised hundreds of pounds for charity.
Joe Lister, pictured, from Steeton near Tadcaster, was one of 11 pupils from Tadcaster Grammar School on a trip when he drowned in a Yorkshire Dales cave on November 14, 2005, aged 14.
Former team-mates who Joe played with for Tadcaster Albion under-15s reunited and played against a team chosen by Joe’s brother, Ben, in the Joe Lister Charity Match recently. It took place at Tadcaster Albion’s i2i Stadium.
The event, which included a raffle, was attended by about 150 people and raised around £1,000 for the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association, who were called out following the incident 12 years ago.
