NORTH Yorkshire Police have named the man who died following a collision on the A64 near Sherburn, in Ryedale, as Ryan David Walker, aged 26, from Sherburn.

An inquest into his death will be opened in due course.

His family issued a statement to police saying: “Ryan was much loved and will be very sadly missed.”

Police enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, which occurred on the west-bound carriageway at around 6.15pm on Monday.

It involved Mr Walker, who is believed to have walked to the A64 from Scagglethorpe, and a blue Ford Focus car.

The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The stretch of road remained closed to traffic until 10.45pm while the police carried out a detailed collision investigation and local diversions were put in place.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward as soon as possible, including anyone who recalls seeing either Mr Walker or the blue Ford Focus prior to the collision.
