A FORMER Terry’s worker who is celebrating her 104th birthday today says her active lifestyle and positive outlook keep her motivated.
Flora Smith, who is originally from Tang Hall, now lives in Glen Lodge independent living community, run by City of York Council.
Mrs Smith worked at Terry's after leaving school aged 14, and had three children – Janet, Pat and Terry – with her late husband Norman. She also has six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
“I don’t just sit in my chair and let the days come and go. I like to make the most of my days and enjoy whatever the future brings," she said.
Cllr Sam Lisle, the council's executive member for housing and safer neighbourhoods, said: “Mrs Smith is a real inspiration in celebrating her 104th birthday. I’d like to join her family, friends and the team at Glen Lodge in wishing her a very happy birthday.”
