YORK shoppers were treated to a day of family fun at the unveiling of a new-look convenience store in York's Bishopthorpe Road.

The family run Costcutter store, which has been situated on Bishopthorpe Road for more than 20 years, has undergone a major refurbishment as part of a national brand transformation programme for Costcutter in the UK and shoppers were invited to a fun-packed day to see the results for themselves.

Store owner Jamie Davison said: "We’re delighted with our new store and loved seeing the reaction of our regular shoppers.

"Following the refurbishment we’ve introduced an extensive range of convenience products and services including more chilled and fresh produce, an extended beer, wine and spirits offer including specialist gins and craft ales, Slush drinks, Lavazza coffee-to-go, along with a comprehensive range of Yorkshire sourced produce, including fresh meat, dairy, local ales, bread and fresh cream cakes – all showcasing the best of Yorkshire.

"The store has been redesigned to truly identify the needs of the local community and to offer not just the products they want, but a fantastic shopping experience. As one of the first wave of new-look Costcutter stores, we’re thrilled to wow customers with our fresh look and feel and we’d like to thank everyone who came along to the launch."

The launch event, on the same day as Bishopthorpe Road's Christmas lights switch on, gave shoppers the opportunity to join in a wide range of family fun, including entertainment, a host of special offers and free gifts and the opportunity to win a giant bear.
