TRADERS on a city centre street are planning a special festive celebration, to thank people for their support over the last year.

Shopkeepers and business owners Micklegate Business Initiative are putting on a free "Christmas Mingle" on Monday, December 18, to show their gratitude to customers, locals and visitors.

It will be the second Micklegate Christmas Mingle, after a successful launch in 2016, but this year will see bigger and better event with more attractions.

The party takes place between 5pm and 8pm, with Santa in attendance with his sleigh and free gifts for children.

There will also be live reindeer, fairground rides, 25 artisan stalls and music from the Sax Manacs and Lucy's Rock Choir.

Two nearby churches are also getting in on the celebrations, with free hot chocolate and 'smores, craft and a choir at the Baptist Church; and free mulled wine, mince pies and a choir at Trinity Church.
