A NEW exhibition has launched in Beverley, focusing on the scandals and disasters that have befallen the town over the years.
"It all happened in Beverley!" opens in the town's Guildhall today, telling stories like the Countess who married her coachman, several fires - including one in 1188 that nearly destroyed the whole town, a couple of disgraceful murders, the tale of Beverley losing its MPs in 1868 because of its history of bribery and corruption.
The exhibition runs until Friday, March 16 2018 in the Guildhall in Register Square next to the main post office. It is open from 10am to 4pm every Friday and from 10am to 1pm every Wednesday, but closed between Christmas and New Year. There will be an extra opening on Sunday, December 10 for the Festival of Christmas. Admission is always free.
