A VILLAGE pub near York has been shortlisted for a national fish and chips award.

The Marcia Inn in Bishopthorpe has been named as one of the UK’s top three foodservice operators serving fish and chips as part of the 30th anniversary National Fish & Chip Awards organised by Seafish.

It will now compete for the top title in the category, which is open to hotels, restaurants, pubs and cafes where fish and chips is included on the menu but is not the core offering.

Finalists are judged against criteria including responsible sourcing, supplier relationships, cooking techniques, staff training and development, and customer service.
