A PIZZA restaurant has reopened in York with a new look inspired by the city's historical connection with horse racing.

PizzaExpress at the York Designer Outlet features artwork which highlights the colourful silks worn by jockeys during a race.

Inside, new banquette seating and copper pendant lighting has been installed and new wall tiles enhance the look of the pizzaiola kitchen and relocated bar area. The outside area includes banquette seating and bamboo planting.

Restaurant manager Jodie Cassidy said: “We are incredibly excited to be relaunching our newly transformed restaurant at York Designer Outlet and can’t wait to invite new guests and regulars inside to see the changes.”

The reopening is just ahead of the PizzaExpress Christmas menu launch tomorrow. This includes a roast dinner pizza, complete with beef and roast potatoes, a maple-glazed gammon Romana, and a nutty cheese and potato pizza for vegetarians, complete with white sauce, red onion, capers and rosemary.
