A MAN has appeared in court charged with an alleged rape dating back almost 30 years.
Andrew Charles Pennington, 53, of High Street, Rawcliffe, has been charged with rape and a Section 14 indecent assault under the previous Sexual Offences Act.
He appeared at York Magistrates’ Court where he confirmed his name, address and date of birth. The alleged rape is said to have occurred in York on October 29, 1988, and the alleged victim was in her 20s at the time.
The case has been sent to York Crown Court, and a preliminary hearing will take place on December 5. No plea was entered and Pennington has been remanded in custody.
