A HORSE vet has travelled 45,000 miles to take up a post at North Yorkshire’s Minster Veterinary Equine Clinic.

Amber Segre graduated from St George’s University in Grenada in June 2017, although her final year of studies was at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh.

Although originally from Newbury in Berkshire, Amber has left behind temperatures of 30 degrees in the Caribbean after joining the Minster team as an intern at Minster Veterinary Equine Clinic, which has three units in York, Ripon and Malton.

Amber is particularly interested in diagnostic lameness investigations, as well as reproduction and neo-natal care, having grown up breeding Arabians.

Joining her as an intern vet is Rachel Schneiders, who graduated from the University of Liverpool with Honours in 2015 and earned the Zoetis Prize for Excellence in Equine Studies.

Keen horse riders Evie O’Brien and Liz Jones have joined as trainee nurses, while Beth Johnstone is a new receptionist at their equine headquarters in Upper Poppleton, York.
