A MOTORIST driving a car with a young child inside was stopped in North Yorkshire for suspected drink driving.
A spokesman for the North Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Group said the woman, who was stopped at about 7.20pm yesterday in Carlton Miniott, near Thirsk, was "clearly drunk." She was arrested after failing to provide a breath specimen for roadside analysis.
The spokesman added that "shockingly", the woman had a young child in the car too.
He said: "A blood specimen has been taken after the breath specimen in custody proved unreliable. The blood will be sent for analysis and the female will be released under investigation once sober. The child is in safe hands elsewhere."
