A YORK MP is to back this week's World Antibiotics Awareness Week by hosting a Parliamentary debate on the problem.

Julian Sturdy, MP for York Outer, has secured the Westminster Hall debate which will take place at 9.30am on Thursday, November 16.

The debate was approved by the backbench business committee in the Commons earlier this month.

Mr Sturdy said: “I am delighted the committee has seen the merits in this application and I am hoping that as many MPs as possible turnout to show their support. Too often people think of antibiotic resistance as a problem for future generations to tackle; this simply is not the case."
