YORK’S Imphal Barracks played host to a Gurkha curry evening in aid of the Lord Mayor’s charities for the Civic Year 2017/18.
The event, which has been supported by Signal 2 Regiment for many years, saw Gurkha chefs cook a selection of traditional Nepalese curries.
Guests also enjoyed the chance to see Nepalese entertainment, including traditional folk dancing with the Kukri dance, a display of drill using the Nepalese weapon the Khukuri.
Lord Mayor Cllr Barbra Boyce thanked 2 Signal Regiment for its hospitality. saying:”They hosted a wonderful event with some very tasty Nepalese food on offer from top quality Gurkha chefs,. We hope that another similar event may be possible before the end of our civic year. “The Gurkhas are incredible people and it is a great honour that they and their families have been present in York for so many years.”
