EIGHTIES pop icon Kim Wilde will play York Barbican on April 15 on next year's Here Come The Aliens tour, her first in more than three decades.

The Kids In America singer turned gardener, now 56, will perform 19 dates in support of her 14th studio album, at present taking shape at RAK studios, where she began her recording career in 1981.

Wilde has teased the release of Here Come The Aliens to fans via Facebook by revealing: "We’ve spent this year working on something very special." Exactly when the aliens will be coming, in the form of the new record, is yet to be confirmed but spring is pencilled in.

Wilde has sold 30 million records worldwide, clocking up such Eighties' hits as Chequered Love, Cambodia, American number number one You Keep Me Hangin’ On, You Came, Never Trust A Stranger and Four Letter Word.

She was voted Best British Female Singer at the 1983 BPI Awards, the forerunner to the BRITs, and supported Michael Jackson on his Bad tour in Europe in 1988, performing to more than two million people, and David Bowie on his Greatest Hits European stadium tour in 1990.

"I'm really excited to be announcing a new tour," says Wilde. "I don't think I’ve toured the UK for over 30 years so I can't wait to play this brand new show with my fantastic band. We are going to be playing my biggest hits and some fabulous tracks from the new album which is coming out next spring. We can’t wait."

Wilde's tour is promoted by Cuffe and Taylor, who co-ordinate the Scarborough Open Air Theatre season each summer. Director Peter Taylor says: "Kim Wilde is one of the most successful female pop stars the UK has ever produced. She has sold more than 30 million records and has been a trailblazer for many of the British female artists who followed her success.

"Kim has played to sell-out crowds across Europe and the world and we expect this tour to be massively popular with her army of fans across the UK and beyond. It's going to be something really special."
