Secondary school pupils in class
THE deadline for secondary school applications for next September is midnight on October 31.
Parents of children currently in Year 6 will then have to wait until March 1 to learn if they have been successful in getting a place at the school they want.
They can apply to up to five schools and City of York Council recommends that one of them should be the school in their catchment area.
The deadline for free school meal applications runs out at the same time. Applications can be made online at www.york.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
