THE DEPARTMENT for Transport has given £3 million for a new roundabout in the East Riding.
The money will pay for a new four-arm roundabout on the A164, at the Riplingham Road and Great Gutter Lane staggered crossroad junction, near Kirk Ella.
The £4.26m scheme, which is also being financed by East Riding council. The £2.98 million from the DfT is allocated from the Government’s £350 million National Productivity Investment Fund.
Council bosses said the A164 was one of the county's busiest roads, with 30,000 vehicles using it every day, and the roundabout will help cut congestion, shorten journeys and improve road safety.
