STUNNING costumes showcasing the work of students at a college in York are going on display.

They will be on show at the Northern College of Costume, on the top floor of 26 Market Street, tomorrow and Saturday.

Eight talented students from all over Britain and beyond have each created three costumes during a 15-week course that has produced costume makers since 2006.

The exhibition will feature reproduction World War One uniforms, silk 18th century gowns and elegant evening gowns from the 1930s and 1940s.

Graduates of the course have gone on to work at major theatre and opera houses across the country as well as producing costumes for popular TV programmes such as Game of Thrones, Outlander, The Crown, Victoria and Peaky Blinders.

Pauline Chambers, the college’s principal, said: “I’m extremely impressed by the standard of workmanship and attention to detail.

“Each student has worked incredibly hard and put in lot of hours to produce the costumes. Confidence as well as skill has grown over the 15 weeks and all have produced costumes of the highest quality and to a professional standard.”

The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend. Refreshments are included.
