CCTV images have been released of a man police want to speak to after an arson attack outside a shop in York city centre.

The attack happened outside Ann Summers in High Ousegate at around 4.55am last Friday.

Police said the suspect set fire to some cardboard which had been left next to the shop.

The fire caused damage to the front of the store before firefighters arrived to put out the flames.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "The CCTV images are of a man police want to talk to in connection with the incident as they believe he may have important information that could assist their investigation. The image was taken at the scene of the fire."
