WALKERS passing a city centre gallery will be able to watch an artist at work this week.
Laurence Vallières, from Montreal, is working at The Art of Protest gallery, in Little Stonegate, working on a number of specially commissioned sculptures.
She produces playful sculptural works creating massive, often life-sized sculptures of animals out of recycled cardboard.
After working on a grand scale for her first two UK projects, Vallières will be concentrating on wall hanging pieces available to purchase.
Vallières is the latest artist the gallery has introduced to York since opening earlier this year.
She said: "My work is greatly inspired by literature from the authors George Orwell and Art Spiegelman. Their deft use of metaphor allowed them to critique an issue or philosophy without explicitly stating the target of their anger."
