POLICE have cordoned off a home in Barlby after a man died suddenly in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were called to Derwent Drive by Yorkshire Ambulance Service at 1.50am and have put a protective white tent in place while they examine the scene.
Police are not yet in a position to name the man, but he is believed to be in his 40s.
Neighbours said they were woken up on Friday morning to a number of 999 crews, including police and paramedics, blocking the quiet residential cul-de-sac and the neighbouring River Close.
A forensics tent has also been erected outside the house, and neighbours said they had seen officers in white forensics suits working at the scene earlier today.
Anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
