A DETERMINED group of men from York have taken on a 40-mile trek for charity in support of their friend who has testicular cancer.

The group of 12 men have completed the Lyke Wake Walk across the North Yorkshire Moors, from Osmotherley, north of Thirsk, all the way to Ravenscar, south of Robin Hood’s Bay, in 18 hours.

They wanted to tackle the walk to show their support for their friend who has been diagnosed with testicular cancer.

So far, they have raised more than £3,250 for Macmillan Cancer Care, who have helped their friend throughout his journey.

Rupert Hoyland, one of the walkers, said: “I would probably say it’s one of the most physically and mentally challenging things I have ever done.

“But it was a good day and well worth it for a good cause.”
