A NORTH Yorkshire petrol station forecourt has scooped a national industry award.

JET’s Abbeyside Service Station in Selby took the top awards for Best Forecourt Innovation and Best Car Care & Lubricants at the petrol retailing industry’s national awards.

The forecourt was also shortlisted as a finalist in the Best Design and Development, Best Soft Drinks Outlet and Best Valeting Facilities, and was also a recognised as one of the top three forecourts in its size category in Northern England.

Owner Nick Baker, who was also shortlisted in the Forecourt Trader Special Recognition Awards, collected the prizes at a 1920s-themed awards event, which took place at the London Hilton on Park Lane and was hosted by popstar, presenter, classical musician and bestselling author, Myleene Klass.

The judging panel was impressed by Mr Baker’s £1.3 million investment in the site, which resulted in a complete knock-down and rebuild of the old 600sq ft shop.In its place stands a new 24/7 operating, double-storey 2,000sq feet JET/SPAR dual-branded site which caters around-the-clock for customers.
