A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads after police saw her weaving about the carriageway on the A64 between Tadcaster and Copmanthorpe shortly after midnight.

Cathy Turnbull, prosecuting, said Louisa Marrison, 45, was twice the drink drive limit.

Harry Bayman, defending, said she had been out for a meal and had had two glasses of wine and a vodka with tonic.

“She appreciates she shouldn’t have had one of those,” he said.

Magistrates told her she had been a danger to herself and other road users and banned her from driving for 18 months.

Marrison, of Green Lane, North Duffield, who admitted drink driving on August 31, was also fined £200 with £85 prosecution costs and a £30 statutory surcharge.

Mr Bayman said she was going through a difficult time financially and emotionally for personal reasons.
