VOLUNTEERS and chief executives from more than 30 award winning groups recognised by the Duke of York have taken part in a day of workshops to boost their business skills.
The groups, who are all holders of The Duke of York’s Community Initiative, gathered at The Regen Centre, Riccall, for the scheme’s annual conference.
Workshops were designed to help and encourage them in their work and acted as a celebration ahead of the project's twentieth anniversary in 2018, which was set up with the purpose of encouraging, recognising and rewarding local community groups and charities that, having identified a need, set about addressing it.
John Battle, former Member of Parliament for Leeds West and a tireless community worker was the event’s guest speaker.
The Duke of York’s Community Initiative is open to all Yorkshire based charities and community groups, provided they meet the schemes application criteria.
