A HUGE job fair will set up stalls at York Railway Institute on Thursday.

The free event will be held at the Queens Street venue, from 10am to 2pm and is supported by City of York Council and Job Centre Plus.

More than 75 organisations and training providers are expected to be there with 1,000 live jobs on offer.

Organisations involved will include, York Teaching Hospital, John Lewis, City of York Council’s fostering, Premier Inn and Gear4Music.

Along with live job vacancies to apply for, there will be support to brush up CV writing skills and improve job applications.

Cllr Keith Orrell, interim Executive Member for Economic Development and Community Engagement said: “This year’s job fair is set to be the most successful yet.

“There are significant opportunities to find a new career path or job with live job offers being in the thousands.

“Our job fairs are hugely successful and have been supported by council funding for the last five years. At the city’s last event, 800 people and 70 organisations attended.

“I’d urge anyone to go along and check out what’s on offer on Thursday.

“Opportunities include live vacancies at every level, full and part-time positions, and apprenticeships targeting 16-24 year olds.”

With an abundance of opportunities, this is an event not to be missed.
