THREE girls got a shock when they saw a man performing a sex act in front of them, York magistrates heard.
Joe Culley, prosecuting, said the girls, all 16, were having something to eat in the open air near their school after taking a GCSE exam when they saw David Victor McEwan in a window directly opposite them.
He was staring at them as he performed a sex act.
One of them later told police she had never seen "such a disgusting act" and she was unable to sleep that night.
McEwan, 68, of Lindsey Avenue, Acomb, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency.
He was fined £200, plus £85 prosecution costs and a £30 statutory surcharge.
His solicitor Keith Whitehouse said he had not intended to cause any offence to the three girls and regretted what he had done.
He had major health problems and had recently spent some time in hospital.
