JULY’S tourism figures show it was the highest month every for inbound tourism in the UK.
A record four million overseas visitors headed to the UK in July, the highest monthly figure since records began in 1961, up six per cent on the same month last year, and the time a month has broken the four million mark. Overseas visitors spent £2.8 billion in the UK, the best month for spend on record.
Visits from North America were up by nine per cent on the same month last year.
VisitBritain Director Patricia Yates said the best-ever monthly figures underpinned a strong first half of the year for inbound tourism.
