JASON Manford's Comedy Club makes its first festival appearance of 2017 at Yorfest on Bustardthorpe Field, Knavesmire, York, tomorrow.

Organisers of this weekend's outdoor live entertainment spectacular welcome a full bill of comedy to complement the music acts at an event expected to draw thousands to the city.

Curated by Salford comic Manford, the line-up includes "some of the UK's hottest comedians right now", such as Allyson June Smith, Cal Halbert and Danny McLoughlin.

Allyson June Smith has been tickling Canada’s comedy scene from the moment she put down the chalk brush and picked up a mic in 2000. Playing to packed rooms has become like another day in the classroom for this former school teacher.

Her credits include her own hour-long Comedy Now special, appearances on CBC Radio’s The Debaters and the Winnipeg, Halifax and Just For Laughs Festivals.

A multiple Canadian Comedy Award nominee for Best Female Stand-Up, she also plays to audiences across Britain.

Cal Halbert is an impressionist, comedian, voice-over artist, writer and actor, who has been described as "brilliant" by David Walliams and "the new wave of comedy" by Michael McIntyre.

Danny McLoughlin

Halbert has performed everywhere from local comedy clubs to the London Palladium, Britain’s Got Talent to Good Morning Britain, as well as doing voiceovers for YouTube and the BBC.

He is also one half of The Mimic Men, apparently Britain’s only impressionist double act. You may have seen him performing on Britain’s Got Talent last year, when he received four Yeses, accompanied by a standing ovation by the judges, audience and hosts Ant and Dec.

Danny McLoughlin's profile has grown rapidly as he becomes a regular performer at respected comedy clubs around the country. He is in demand too as a tour support for the big names of British comedy and turns his hand capably to hosting gigs as the master of ceremonies.

Tomorrow, Manford's Comedy Club presents a rotating line-up across the afternoon and into the early evening that also will feature Chris Washington; Duncan Oakley; El Baldino; Gavin Webster; Jack Carroll; Karen Bayley; Mike Wilkinson; Sam Avery; Simon Lomas and Vince Atta.

Manford’s Comedy Club was launched by Jason and his brother Colin two years ago with the idea of bringing comedians from the UK circuit to small towns and cities across the country for nights of live comedy. The shows feature well-known names in both the comedy and television circuit and are all chosen by Jason.

Seats can be reserved for tomorrow's comedy sittings for a small charge on top of an event ticket from skiddle.com, or festival-goers can take a chance on gaining entry on a first-come, first-served basis.

Away from the comedy, Yorfest's music bill includes headliners The Shires, Badly Drawn Boy and the newly added John Power, frontman of Cast.
