A FAMILY has paid tribute to an "amazing" Selby grandmother who died more than two weeks after she was involved in a car crash.

Wilma Ryan, 63, was a passenger in a black Ford Fiesta which crashed on the A1041 at Barlow, near Camblesforth, at just before 11pm on August 30, North Yorkshire Police said.

The collision also involved a white Ford Connect van.

Wilma died at St James’s Hospital in Leeds on September 14.

A coroner has opened an investigation into Wilma's death and will open an inquest in due course.

Cat Brant, Wilma’s daughter, said: "She was an amazing daughter, mum and grandma who meant so much to so many different people, many of whom she met though her 42 years in nursing. She will be dearly missed by her friends, family and all who were lucky enough to have her in their life."

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

The driver of the Fiesta, Halina Malinowska, 69, from Barlby, who was known as Lusia, also died following the crash.

A 27-year-old man from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, who was the driver of the van, was taken to York Hospital but has since been discharged.

Anyone who saw the crash, or either vehicle prior to the incident, is urged to contact police on 101 or email MCIT@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk quoting reference 12170155447.
