SPORTS fan in York are being invited to discover the city's sporting heritage, share memories and view memorabilia at a special event this month.
Discover York’s Sporting Heritage is on Saturday 30 September, coinciding with national sporting heritage day. It is open to all and will run from 1pm and 5pm at the York St John sports park on Haxby Road, giving people chance to watch past games and view a range of memorabilia.
The event will also allow people to try a number of walking sports including football, netball and rugby.
The free event is organised by City of York Council’s Yorwellbeing service in partnership with York City FC, York City Knights, the city’s archives and the sporting memories network.
Cllr Ann Reid said: “Sport is powerful for many people who can remember a whole variety of occasions, be it their first game or a particularly memorable win."
