A PUB’S two popular cats have been immortalised by a York sculptor and added to the city’s Cat Trail.
The Plough Inn’s past and present pets, Tom, 17, and Georgie, who died five years ago aged 13, have been sculpted by York artist Jonathan Newdick and placed in the pub’s first floor windows.
They will be added to the trail when a new map is published later this year.
The trail already shows the location of 22 cats around the city and is one of the city’s free attractions, which invites visitors to try and spot the various sculptures on buildings and landmarks around York.
Sue Curtis, manager of the Fulford pub, said the sculptures of her cats were a fitting tribute to their popularity.
“Tom is really popular and well known with all the regulars.
“We found a sculptor and thought it was a really good idea.”
